Are you a disabled young person under 25? Do you have a view, or an insight, or a vision or an opinion you would like to share about the future of accessible transport? Take our video challenge and get your views heard!
So what do I have to do?
We want you to create a 5×5 video and publish it online. The video should present:
“your idea about the future of accessible transport to enhance your independent living.”
What are we looking for? Creativity and vision! And we want you to make a film about something that matters TO YOU!
Make a point! Make us laugh! Open our eyes! Provide an insight! Show us a vision! Tell us a story! Show us a world from YOUR point of view.
The best videos will be featured at MOAT2013 and could win prizes!
Why do it?
Enter the competition to be featured in a museum, at Coventry University and other websites, in social media. Showcase your creativity, technical competence to be added to your portfolio or cv.
You can win a prize
As well as highlighting your ideas on a platform where you will be heard, the winning videos will receive prizes eg. a week’s accessible holiday for 4 in France, trabasacks etc (we are still getting more offers).
I have an idea but never created a video!
Worry not! We are encouraging those who have never created video before to enter. Got a mobile phone or a ‘point and shoot’ camera that can shoot video? Then you already have the kit you need! And we are providing a toolkit of resources to get you ‘up and creating’. You are allowed to get support to achieve your creation BUT you must lead the whole production. Closing date is 15th November to give the judges time to choose the best entries. If you are under the age of 16 you must obtain permission from your parent/guardian before you enter this competition.
Definition of independent living -
Independent Living does not mean that we want to do everything by ourselves or that we do not need anybody or like to live in isolation. Independent Living means that we demand the same choices and control in our every-day lives that our non-disabled brothers and sisters, neighbors and friends take for granted. We want to grow up in our families, go to the neighborhood school, use the same bus as our neighbors, work in jobs that are in line with our education and interests, and raise families of our own. We are profoundly ordinary people sharing the same need to feel included, recognized and loved.

Independent Living Institute, Stockholm
You are allowed to get support to achieve your creation BUT you, as a disabled young person, must lead the whole production.
(Disabled here means you have a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ and ‘long-term’ negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities – from Equality Act 2010)
Our Funders have just told us that only UK residents are eligible.
How to enter
To enter the competition you must upload your 5×5 to either Vimeo or YouTube and send us the link. Both sites offer free accounts. Both sites provide support to upload your video. Don’t struggle on your own. There is help available!
What is a 5×5?
Five ‘five second’ shots, cut together and that is it! No fancy transitions or effects. Sound as recorded with the shot. No titles. No overlays. Just a flow of images presenting your idea. It is a simple concept with endless possibilities…
